DEDICATED TO WORKING TOWARDS A SOLUTION TO HOMELESSNESS
DONATE TODAY
Let’s Rock and Roll and Change the World, Inc is working towards a solution based approach, dedicated to helping homeless people reintegrate into our community in a manner that restores dignity and allows them to contribute in a positive way.
Our mission is to create a village where people can learn, grow, live together and support one another. This project is designed to give a hand up not a hand out.
“Many say, ‘too big of a problem’ or ‘just can't be done,’ but people, this mindset is the result of focusing on the global need as opposed to the individual need. You see friends, you can't change the world until you first change one person’s world!! When I carry out a kindness to someone, I tell them to remember this day and what this kindness meant to them. Then I tell them to simply pay it forward. This community is designed with the premise of giving back to God,neighbor and community.
Pay it forward program:
Each person living in the village has a gift and we are dedicated to highlighting those gifts. We believe if we nurture them in each person it will not only grow but it will bring dignity back into their lives as well as the community in which they live. Paying it forward using these gifts to help others within the village along with the community. Being good stewards of their time and talents will bring about pride of ownership for everyone. Modeling compassion for others in need as they have received throughout the community. Each resident will be responsible for their participation in food, clothing, back pack drives and will be required to volunteer a set number of hours both in and outside the community. The learning center will hold these drives to help other organizations locally and throughout the world. Each community kitchen will cook a meal once a month and offer that meal to the community in which it is built. Community garden volunteers will help others throughout the community wanting to start their own gardens. Community garden programs will donate plants grown in their greenhouses to others starting community gardens.
Work towards a home program:
This program is a two part program to fit the individual needs for each person within the community/village. The outline for the first part of this program is transitional housing, a critical service that provides a temporary rental home within the community/village. This program will be in place to allow the individual a specific amount of time while they find more permanent housing. Within that time the person must file for and get permanent housing and usually some gainful employment or income. Once this person is assessed that they are “housing ready” they will be offered permanent housing within the community/village. The outline for the second part of this program is simple. The individual puts upfront the down payment on a Tiny Home and works towards owning that home on a rent to own basis. Each individual will be required to volunteer a set number of hours of sweat equity towards their home along with helping others in the community/village. We will offer some homes to rent/lease on a one year contract agreement for those individuals that do not want to purchase their own home. Let’s Rock and Roll & Change the World will own the land, charge rental fees and any and all proceeds will go back into the community/village.
Here is the plan for the R&R Tiny House Village. A 40'x80' urban lot can fit 6 tiny homes. We are looking at three lots that can fit about 36 tiny homes along with gardens and a community learning center. This will allow us to have on site resources for each person living in the village. The work towards a home plan is in place along with the pay it forward plan.
The Housing First model is simple: provide housing first, and then combine that housing with supportive treatment services in the areas of mental and physical health, substance abuse, education, and employment. The savings are evident to the communities who are helping assist and provide housing for many of those living on the streets.
